Logo Design - Part 2

Logo Critique

1. Google - http://www.google.com/

How does the logo make you feel?
  • Curious, to the extent of wondering what it's about.
Does it seem fun or serious?
  • It really could go either way. The multiple colors make it attractive and warm, while the simple font style it uses also gives off a serious look.
Does it look like it’s for kids?
  • With the multi-color design it could look as though it was drawn for children.
Does it look like a logo designed for women? Why?
  • No, it's design for a uni-sex audience.
What part does the color play, if any? Do you agree with their color choices? Why?
  • Quite a few, because without the color it would be considered a bland, boring logo. With the color (rainbow look, sort of) it is styled appropriately for a worldwide audience.
2. Yahoo - http://www.yahoo.com/

How does the logo make you feel?
  • Fun and excited
Does it seem fun or serious?
  • It's more of a fun look that has grown a "serious attitude" due to how the growth of the company.
Does it look like it’s for kids?
  • Yes, it's a fun and stylish logo.
Does it look like a logo designed for women? Why?
  • No, it's design for a uni-sex audience.
What part does the color play, if any? Do you agree with their color choices? Why?
  • The colors really "sell" it if you know what I mean. Yahoo has chosen on simple, yet very effective colors which allow its users to notice and identify its logo publicly.

3. Apple - http://www.apple.com/

How does the logo make you feel?
  • Hungry and curious
Does it seem fun or serious?
  • Very much so both, because the logo has nothing to do with a computer or electronic device (which could be serious), but is related to iPods and things of that like (which are 'fun' in nature.
Does it look like it’s for kids?
  • Yes, usually when you think of an Apple it's associated with a children's lunch.
Does it look like a logo designed for women? Why?
  • No, it's design for a uni-sex audience.
What part does the color play, if any? Do you agree with their color choices? Why?
  • Not much, the color has changed over the years. The logo itself is what the focus point would be for me.

4. IBM - http://www.ibm.com/

How does the logo make you feel?
  • Very business like
Does it seem fun or serious?
  • Serious, it looks like something a large corporation or business would use.
Does it look like it’s for kids?
  • No, not at all.
Does it look like a logo designed for women? Why?
  • No, it's design for a uni-sex audience.
What part does the color play, if any? Do you agree with their color choices? Why?
  • Very little other than it's been a consistent color and "identifier" per se for many years.

5. McDonalds - http://www.mcdonalds.com/

How does the logo make you feel?
  • Fun and invited
Does it seem fun or serious?
  • Fun, it's very inviting and welcoming.
Does it look like it’s for kids?
  • Yes, the golden arches are almost like "gates" so to speak.
Does it look like a logo designed for women? Why?
  • No, it's design for a uni-sex audience.
What part does the color play, if any? Do you agree with their color choices? Why?
  • Quite a bit because when you think of McDonalds, you think of the golden arches. The golden yellow plays a big part because it's one of their key advertising identifiers.
